Biography

Peter Kinderman is Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Liverpool and President of the British Psychological Society. Peter’s scientific publications focus on the role of psychological factors as mediators between biological, social and circumstantial factors in mental health and wellbeing, but Peter has also published widely on human rights in mental health care and is currently investigating the effectiveness of human rights training in dementia care. He previously chaired the Human Rights Committee of Mental Health Europe – Sante Mentale Europe, and served on the Fundamental Rights Platform of the Fundamental Rights Agency.
